Wine No 2 from
Domaine des Escaravailles
La Ponce 2020
AOP Rasteau
"Escaravay" means beetle in the local Occitan language. It was the nickname given by the villagers to the 17th century owners of the land. This cuvée is a blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes, growing on old vines, La Ponce is the property's marquis wine. The maceration is long, and it is left to age in concrete tanks and then barrels for 18 months before bottling. The wine is powerful and structured with notes of thyme and leather. As always, open the wine at least a couple of hours before serving. This is not a wine for aperitif. Serve it a little chilled to enjoy the balance and pair it with food that holds its own!

Gilles et Madeline Ferran
In 1953, Jean-Louis Ferran fell in love with a ruined farmhouse in Rasteau, where he, along with his sons Daniel and Jean-Pierre, began planting vines and realized their dream of making wine. Gilles, Daniel's son, joined the estate in 1986 and, after training in oenology, together with his wife Laurence started vinifying in 1999, crafting wines with finesse and depth. The estate, now under the management of Gilles' daughter Madeline, works with diverse terroirs and over fifteen grape varieties, producing wines that express the unique characteristics of their land. Their underground cellar and varied winemaking techniques help enhance the potential of each vintage.
